Heil Valley Ranch hike

Conor and I hit a local trail yesterday. Just a few miles down the road the ‘Pitcure Rock trail’ of Heil Valley Ranch only just opened for use in 2008. It proved to be a very well manicured trail, popular with the Mtn Biker’s but still a fantastic day-hike.

3 miles from the trail head we came upon an old rock quarry and homestead, complete with a few half-decomposed cars and farm equipment. I was content to stay here and take a few hours worth of pitcures, but Conor wanted to push on to complete the full 5.5 mile trail. We did of course, but at the cost of my legs. After completing the length of the trail, we had only to turn around and walk the entire thing again to get to the car.

It really was a great trail, and one I will do again in the near future, but only to the quarry and back. I’d like to spend some more time in that area with the camera clicking away.
